I Hate SPAM!

March 23, 2009

Do you have an anti spam solution already? We mean, one that actually works? The flood of unsolicited messages sent over the Internet is growing so fast that spam currently accounts for more than half of all North American email traffic, making it not only a hair-pulling annoyance but also an increasing drain on corporate budgets. Today, spammers are so technologically sophisticated that they adjust their systems on the fly, to counter special filters and other barriers thrown up against them. They can electronically commandeer unprotected computers, turning them into spam-launching weapons of mass production.

The Challenge: You will be spammed, period. And, quick fixes won’t be sufficient. Spam is a problem that is not going away despite with the new CANSPAM and Canadian Government legislation. With about 784 million email users worldwide (and growing every day), electronic messaging today is a breeding ground for computer viruses, unsolicited commercial or junk email and inappropriate content. These might sound familiar:

•“Oh no…my inbox is cluttered with hundreds of junk emails…”

•“My Microsoft Outlook is sooooo slow…again. What can I do…now it crashed…”

•“I spent about two weeks to get my system healthy again after that virus attack.”

•“I bought antivirus software…but…found out that it works on one PC only.”

•“What happened to my credit card”? (Identity theft becomes more common every day)

The Solution: Superior protection for your email network. Your competition is busy trying to fight spam, and you just…lean back and smile. Remember, spammers are changing the rules everyday. So, you need a sophisticated solution. With Bralin’s EMail Assure you’re freed from the day to day email security management. I’m often asked by people for advice on what type of computer they should purchase. Let me be real clear right up front and say that most computers will be fast enough for most people. So, if speed isn’t the key thing, what is?

Here are the top 5 computer buying mistakes I see:

#5. Buying a computer with a Home version of Windows for use at their office. This leads to serious problems, and the worst case is that this computer will not work at all at your office unless you spend hundreds of dollars to upgrade to the proper version of Windows.

#4. Buying the lowest priced computer. Like most things in life … you often get what you pay for. Lowest priced computers use older technology and lower quality components – period. The real problem with this is that your computer is already obsolete when you buy it, and will not have the life expectancy.

#3. Not noticing the warranty terms and conditions. Many computers come with a 1 year “return to depot” warranty. If something goes wrong, you will have to pay to ship your computer to the repair depot and wait until it is repaired and returned to you; perhaps 10 days to 2 weeks later. Much better is a 3 year warranty that includes “Next Business Day onsite”

#2. Not buying a “business class” computer. Home computers have bells and whistles that will focus on entertainment. Business computers need to focus on reliability, compatibilty and managability. What does all this mean? A home computer will have issues, will have more downtime, and will take longer to repair.

And the #1 mistake …

#1. Buying your computer from a company that focuses on consumer installations. Your business computers are networked together and have much greater needs around the security of information. Solution providers that focus on the business market are much better qualified to deal with all of the myriad of decisions required to properly install and secure your new computer. This mistake has cost some people their entire business due to the loss of sensitive and important business information!!
